St. Regis Deer Valley: Amazing 5 Day Trip to Park City
Drew and I just got back from an adults only trip to Deer Valley, Utah. Even though it is the “off season,” early September is where it is at for traveling out west. The crowds are less, the weather is still warm, the views are breathtaking and the prices are right. I am pretty sure it will be on our list of times to go out west from now on!
Drew won a trip with his company as “President’s Pick” for his hard work this past year and we added on an additional day to enjoy ourselves. His company went above and beyond to spoil us and gave us fun opportunities to explore out west. It was a fantastic trip and I cannot wait to go out and explore with our kids someday!
We arrived on Wednesday afternoon, after an easy direct flight from Atlanta. A car was ready for us and drove us to the St. Regis in Deer Valley, about 30 minutes from the airport. There we were greeted and had food and drinks poolside before our room was ready. As a mom, it takes a minute for me to calm down and relax being away from my kids so it was a nice way to ease into our vacation. When our room was ready, we showered and got ready for an evening out with some people from Drew’s team. There were two other couples with kids our same age which made the trip even more fun to spend time with people in similar seasons as us. We ate at Main 350 and had the place practically to ourselves, talk about amazing service (the perks of offseason!). Following dinner, I headed to bed while Drew and some of the guys went to the hotel bar for a nightcap.
Thursday morning, still on East Coast time, I woke up before 6am and enjoyed a quiet cup of coffee by the fire pit and watched the sunrise. It was such a wonderful and relaxing way to start my day! Following our slow morning, we went on a group hike, with a guide from the hotel, up the mountain by our resort. It was refreshing and beautiful to see the valley from up high. After our hike, I headed into town to do some shopping and grabbed lunch at The Eatery while Drew had lunch with his boss. I cannot remember the last time I took my time bopping in and out of stores–it was glorious! Drew met up with me downtown and we enjoyed the late afternoon together.
After downtown, we went back to the resort to change and get ready for the event that evening. Drew’s company put on a cocktail Cowboy themed party with an oxygen bar, axe throwing and lasso game. It was a great way to kick off a fun company celebration. Following the cocktail party, we headed downtown to dinner at Firebird before going to a dueling piano bar, The Spur, to finish off our evening. It was an absolute blast to let loose and dance and sing at the piano bar.
Friday morning, we went on a morning run from the St. Regis down to Park City which was about 1.5 miles away. The elevation change made it much harder to breathe and made for a challenging run. Following our run, we headed to Utah’s Olympic Park with the group. It was amazing to see the facilities that hosted the Olympics in 2002 and amazing that they are profitable and have facilities that continue to be opportational. We went on America’s longest zip-line, went down an alpine coaster and went on a bobsled! Bobsledding down the actual bobsled track and going 4Gs was an absolutely amazing experience and well worth the uncharge!
Following our Olympic experience, we went back to the resort to freshen up before the awards ceremony. Friday evening, Drew’s company honored all of the top sales people along with the President’s choice picks. When Drew was in sales we went on a couple of these trips, so it made it even more sweet to go when he was a President’s pick. I am so proud of my husband and his hardwork for his company and it is amazing to have him achknowledged for his dedication and achievement.
Saturday morning, we woke up super early and grabbed a granola bar from the hotel before heading up the mountain to go UTVing. Drew loves anything off-roading so this was basically his heaven. We UTVed and even saw a bull moose along the way! The views were spectacular and it was so much fun. Admittedly, it was super dusty to the point you could barely see at points and Drew’s teeth had mud on them when he smiled–but it was well worth it for the fun we had! Following the UTV and a much needed shower, we went downtown to No Name Bar to watch college football and eat lunch with his company. It was fun hanging out with his co-workers and getting to know them and their spouses. There are fellow Clemson alums in the group which made it even more fun to watch the game with!
Following college football, I went shopping a little more (glorious, I told you!) and Drew watched more football. We opted to stay downtown and have a date night at a sushi bar which was absolutely amazing. I am not sure if it was the off-season or what, but we had the best service and the most delicious sushi rolls. It was the perfect way to end our trip with a little one on one time after a lot of socializing. On Sunday morning, we went for a run downtown and stopped at The Eatery for breakfast before walking back to the resort and catching the shuttle to the airport. Our flight was delayed, which allowed us to watch NFL and grab lunch/dinner before getting on the plane.
We arrived home at midnight and kissed the boys, it was an amazing trip but wonderful to get back to our little dudes. A huge thank you to my in-laws who took care of the boys and shuttled them from practices, school, games and all the things. They had a great time and we are so fortunate to be able to take some time away from our children and know they are well taken care of and loved! If you have the opportunity to sneak away for a little bit of time with your spouse, I highly recommend it! It is so much fun to be able to be carefree and fun again with each other ๐
