Easter 2015 in Chapin

Happy Easter Monday!  Drew and I enjoyed a long weekend in Chapin.  It is awesome how many companies in Upstate South Carolina get off on Good Friday.  Growing up in Maryland–we certainly did not, but we did get off for many Jewish holidays so I guess it evens out.

On Thursday night, we went to a new restaurant, Bar Louie, off of Woodruff Road (Greenville, SC).  I like to go to restaurants on Woodruff Road because there are so many different options and it is a lot closer to us than going downtown (only a 10 minute difference, but always seems easier ha!).  Apparently, Bar Louie is a chain restaurant with a location in Charlotte too.  The restaurant/bar has an amazing ambiance and delicious drinks and food.  Unfortunately, Drew and I barely missed the happy hour specials (1/2 price wine and apps!) but still enjoyed the great scene.  We spilt a large flat bread pizza and shrimp lettuce wraps while enjoying our wine/manhattans.  It is a great, chill place that we will definitely visit again.  I cannot wait until it is a little warmer to sit on their patio.

On Friday, we headed off to Chapin to visit with his family for Easter weekend.  I have been going to Chapin for almost every Easter over the past 6 years.  It was my first trip “home” with Drew back in 2009 and I still remember being so nervous to go home with him for a holiday—it seemed like a really big step back in the day!  We took advantage of the beautiful weather and went on the boat both Friday and Saturday.  On Saturday, Meredith and Drew wanted to go fishing so they pulled out some old rods and gave it a go.  Even though no one caught anything, we still had a great time trying.  As a “city girl” (as Drew calls me), it is nice to learn new things and especially activities that I never imagined myself doing aka fishing!

We had a quiet Easter morning and enjoyed a delicious home cooked meal.  After saying goodbyes and driving home, we headed to the driving range to hit a few golfballs before dinner.  All and all it was a wonderful Easter weekend–now just waiting for the pollen to simmer down and the sun to continue to shine (and temperature to continue to rise).
