Recap on Swamp Rabbit 5k with Girls on the Run and Adults Playing Hooky

Yesterday was the final day of the Girls on the Run Spring 2015 season! Our season ran from February to May with the final 5k run last Friday evening.  Our Greenville girls joined 6 thousand other runners in the Swamp Rabbit 5k run.  Friday night was so much fun and it was amazing to see all of our girls finish the race–with smiles on their faces :).  Most of our girls ran with their parents, friends or other coaches.  It is such an amazing thing that 3rd-5th graders can say that they ran a 5k!  I am extremely proud of each and everyone of our girls and cannot wait until next season!

Nothing like running with 6k of your closest friends–ha!

The rest of my weekend looked a lot like this…

Yes, it is finally warm out and boating season is in full swing!  On Saturday, Drew and Jason, installed a trolling motor on the boat while Nikki and I went shopping.  It was a perfect day to go shopping and allow the boys to work while we played.  I surprised Drew with a nice orange golf shirt (never enough Clemson orange in our wardrobes!) and these amazing Govino glasses.  Drew has a tenancy to drop/break our nice wine glasses so I thought that these “classier” plastic wine glasses would be perfect for him (and me!).  I cannot wait to use them at the beach and tailgating this year.

Love a plastic wine glass–and I couldn’t help myself had to get it personalized

On Sunday following church, we took the boat out with Nikki and Jason.  It was the perfect way to end the weekend–so perfect that we decided to play hooky and extend the weekend to a three day weekend.  Drew gets extra vacation this year and since we don’t really have major vacations planned–it was the perfect time to extend our first summer feeling weekend!  Drew, Scout and I went fishing (aka I laid out and sunbathed with the dog while Drew fished).  Though we didn’t catch anything (came really close a few times, and really really close once), we had a perfect day!

Lake Hartwell on a Monday=empty 🙂

We ended the day by firing up the Green Egg and cooking a BBQ chicken pizza.  All the “eggperts” out there are right–the Green Egg does do some amazing cooking!  I cannot wait to make another homemade grilled pizza again–next time I’m thinking supreme or greek inspired.

Yesterday after a HOT 6 mile run! Need to hydrate!

I absolutely love the spring/summer weather that we are having–it inspires me to go out and run.  Off to run some errands before a nice 5 mile run this evening 🙂
