Best Self Help Books for Women by Women

Being a psychology major in college, means this girl LOVES some self-help or self-improvement books. I am continuously inspired by suggestions and stories of others. You can learn so much about yourself, others and the world through reading “self-help” books.

I will say that while I love this topic, there are quite a few books that have left me feeling anxious, hard to finish, uninspired or just plan boring. To not waste your time sorting through the endless supply and offerings of self help books, here is a list of some amazing books that will leave you inspired and fuel your soul (and have a little girl power thrown into the mix too!).

BEST SELF HELP BOOKS:

  1. Untamed by Glennon Doyle: This is one of my favorite recent reads. She is so funny and thought provoking. She shares her raw and real story. If you haven’t heard of Glennon, she is awesome and I totally recommend following her on Instagram!
  2. Girl, Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis. Both of these books are easy and fast reads. While she has had a little controversy around herself recently (divorce, not fun); she is as real as it gets and inspires while providing comic relief.
  3. Believe Bigger by Marshawn Evans Daniels : Y’all I just finished listening to this audiobook and was BLOWN away! If you are a believer in God and love self help, you want to pick this book up immediately. She provides scripture and real life examples to make you believe bigger and have “Godfidence.” I just love her and bonus she is an Atlanta girl 🙂
  4. You are a Badass and You are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero: If you want to laugh out loud pick up one of these books. While they are inspire you to get off your booty and believe in yourself, they will have you smiling and laughing all the way through. Trust me, more than once Drew found me laughing so hard I was in tears during this read.
  5. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne: While this is more about manifestation than self-help, it provides a new thought process and there is a reason why this is a best seller around the world. In the series, she speaks about the importance of gratitude, joy and love. Her lessons are thought provoking and have been known to be completely “life changing!”

The thing I love about all these ladies is that they are so real, inspiring and down to earth. I would love to have coffee with each one of them and feel like I would leave with a REAL friend and brand new perspective. They are all wonderful, kick ass women!

Bargain Tip: Remember to check out your library! I listened to a few of these as audiobooks from the library (and then bought copies, because they were that good!). Also, if you have a Half Priced Book store near you, you can find them even cheaper than Amazon (sometimes).

What is your favorite self-help book? Hope you enjoy and feel as inspired as I do after reading these 🙂
