Bridal Shower at Willow Creek Inn and Memorial Day Weekend
Please note: I lost my computer charger and didn’t post this when I originally wanted to–oops!!
Hello and happy Tuesday! Isn’t it so great when the weekday starts on Tuesday?! On a Tuesday…
This weekend I had the great pleasure of attending my best friend’s bridal shower in Vale, North Carolina. My best friend, Paige, and I have been friends since we were 2 years old! Yes, we go wayyyy back. I lived in Hickory, North Carolina until I was in middle school when my family moved to Maryland. Despite being miles apart, Paige and I managed to stay close. When it was time to tour colleges, we went together and both decided to attend Clemson University. We were roommates throughout college and we have stayed in touch throughout every stage of life. Needless to say, I am very blessed to have a friend/sister like Paige 🙂
I will take any excuse to have a reunion. Our other best friend, Laura, and I drove up together to Hickory to have a night together before the shower. Yes, even though I am not in middle school I still do call them my “best friends.” Laura and I had a blast on our short car ride up to North Carolina. We got in around dinner time and opted to go to Hickory Tavern for dinner with Paige and another bridesmaid, Sapna. Following dinner, we had a champagne toast and enjoyed catching up and chatting all night. We literally didn’t stop talking until 3 am (old person alert: I cannot remember the last time that I stayed up until 3 am)!
In the morning, Laura and I went on a quick run around the neighborhood. We even ran by my old house–soo strange to see someone else living in my old house. Following our run, we drove up to Vale, North Carolina to the shower. The shower was hosted by a few of Paige’s family friends and the setting/weather could not have been more perfect. It was an absolutely beautiful day filled with laughter, chatter and excitement about the big day.
All and all, it was a beautiful bridal shower and I was so happy that I got to spend time with my best friends. I will say that the bad part about growing up is that you have less time to spend with people close to you. Distance/busy life does stink sometimes–but it is a part of life. Ce la ve (B-witched anyone?!–keeping up my 90’s references!).
After the shower, Laura and I drove back to Columbia and then I went to Chapin to visit with my in-laws and go on the lake. My in-laws live on Lake Murray outside of Columbia, South Carolina. Lake Murray is a huge lake and is the lake that Drew grew up going to. On Sunday, we had a great boat day and enjoyed hanging out with friends. There were a ton of people with the same idea–enjoying the long weekend and beautiful weather on the lake. On Monday (totally felt like Sunday), we celebrated Drew’s step-dad’s birthday and enjoyed a huge spread of delicious food including homemade bacon!
It was a wonderful Memorial Day weekend 🙂
