Christmas Presents for Four Year Old and Two Year Old Boys

‘Tis the time of year of holiday shopping. Admittedly, I am trying to get ALL of my shopping done before December 1st. With the craziness in the world, I don’t want to be out in public more than necessary and really want to focus on the true meaning of Christmas this year rather than the materiality of it. Therefore, I have been doing my best to pre-purchase all of our family’s Christmas presents (with sales starting earlier this year, it has been a lot easier to accomplish).

Please keep in mind that every kid is different, but rather than doing a list of “suggested” presents for two and four year olds–I am putting my money where my mouth is, and sharing what we actually purchased our kids for Christmas! I will do another post on what my boys really love for added ideas too 🙂

Big Ticket Items for Four Year Old:

  1. 16 inch Bike: Reid has used his 12 inch bike so much and we know it is time for an upgrade. After searching for months, I found a great used Giant bike on Marketplace. It is orange, just like his daddy’s bike and he is sure to use it a ton!
  2. Hot Wheels Garage: This is a toy that I would call a piece of plastic junk (sorry!)…but kids love them. I personally refuse to pay over 100 for a new pile of plastic, so I found a neighbor selling this and snagged it for 40 dollars, it may not be new, but it is sure to be a hit!
  3. Paw Patrol Chase Rescue Truck (what both of the boys asked for Christmas): Admittedly, I feel like Reid is going to grow out of the Paw Patrol phase soon–but this is the only thing he asked for Santa for and hopefully, his little brother still has a few more years of loving Paw Patrol.

Small Items for Four Year Old:

  1. Hot Wheels Car Carrier Truck: Organization and a toy, I call that a win, win!
  2. Monster Trucks: These are my four year olds FAVORITE toys. He has so many of them, but loves each and everyone. These are by far the most played with toys and for 3.99 each I am happy to keep him entertained!
  3. Zingo Sight Words/Numbers: We love the game Zingo and figure that encouraging sight words and numbers at this age will be great too!
  4. Atomic Power Popper Guns: I saw these at Costco and thought that Reid and Drew (a big kid at heart) would have a blast popping the balls all over the house. Thankfully, Walker is old enough that I don’t have to worry about the small pieces this year!

Big Ticket Items For Two Year Old:

  1. Spooner Board: Walker already has a balance bike and scooter (which are our favorites) and figure that this would be a great addition to our “active” toys this winter. These can be used indoors on hardwood floors and I am hoping that both boys love this and it will get some of their energy out this winter.
  2. Transformers: Walker usually follows whatever his big brother wants, but the one and only thing different that he has asked for is Transformers. I honestly have no idea where he got this idea, but he is all about some transformers!
  3. Paw Patrol Chase Rescue Truck: See above, the boys’ big item from Santa this year!

Small Ticket Items for Two Year Old:

  1. Discovery Sound Board Books: Walker loves books, especially when he has buttons to push or flaps to open. These books encourage learning which is a plus for this mama!
  2. Duplo Blocks: Walker loves to build and loves trains so we purchased an alphabet train for him to encourage learning his letters.
  3. Paw Patrol Skye and Zuma: We have all the other pups in our collection but these two, so they will soon be added to the collection.
  4. 5 Minute Reading Books: These are great and currently on sale at Target and Amazon. Walker loves to read and loves Mickey Mouse, so it is meant to be 🙂

Stocking Stuffers for the Boys:

  1. Nike Crew Socks: Funny, but true, my four year old asked for socks for Christmas. He loves the high rise sock fad!
  2. Pez dispensers: These are a fan favorite 🙂
  3. Gummy Lifesaver Book: I had these growing up, so my boys get them too!
  4. Light up guns: Truthfully, I am not sure about guns or play guns…they were not allowed in my house growing up, but boys just seem to love them so I figure these two little light up guns are an okay compromise.
  5. Hot Wheels and Monster Trucks: These are the boys favorite and simple stocking stuffers sure to be a hit!
  6. Melissa and Doug Color Magic books: I am not sure if my boys or I like these better, but they occupy them and I’ll take that as a win!

Things I am debating about:

  1. Hot Wheel Monster Truck Ramp
  2. Monster Truck Remote Control Car

As much as I am going to try to take the materiality out of December, I do love to shop…so I will do my best to stick with this list, but cannot promise that it will not be added to! I hope everyone has a fun and healthy shopping season this year 🙂
