• Edisto Beach Summer 2015 Trip #1

Happy Monday! We had a wonderful weekend in Edisto with Drew’s family.  Edisto Beach/Island is one of my favorite places on earth.  So many special memories have been made in Edisto (i.e. getting engaged over 2 years ago on the beach) and we always have a great time! This was our first spring/summer trip to Edisto and I cannot wait for the many more trips to come (already have a week long vacation planned later this summer along with a couple weekend trips with friends!). This weekend we did a lot of relaxing and enjoyed the start of summer weather at the beach.  The water is still a little chilly,…

  • Girls on the Run Coaches Dinner, Strawberry Pie and Charleston Run

Hello from Charleston!  Drew and I woke up super early this morning and made our way down to Charleston.  We are celebrating my mother-in-law’s birthday in Edisto this weekend and came down early so that Drew could work in Charleston (he travels to Charleston a couple times a month for work).  My sister-in-law, Meredith, and I are going down to the beach house later this afternoon and Drew will meet up with us a little bit later.  After Drew dropped me off, Meredith and I ventured to pick up some last minute items from Trader Joe’s–which lets be honest I went in needing to get lettuce and walked out with…

  • Spring Cleaning and Old School Finds

My morning started off with a brisk 2 mile run with Scout.  I took my own advice from yesterday and decided to take advantage of the warmer weather/cool morning weather and go for a run rather than walk in the morning.  I am so glad that I did–the temperature was in the low 70’s coupled with a cool breeze making the weather and my run perfect!  I ran into many familiar faces that I haven’t seen in months–the same group of people tend to walk around the neighborhood that I run in (around the same time everyday–I am assuming!). Yesterday, I decided to do some spring cleaning.  Admittedly, I have…

  • Morning Walks, Afternoon Jogs and Dining Room Decorating

Good morning!  In my opinion, there is nothing better than waking up and going on a walk with your dog and a cup of coffee.  I started walking with Scout in the morning when we first moved to Greenville.  Our neighborhood is not very big–but going from cul-de-sac to cul-de-sac totals about a mile.  Our walks turned into runs and now have ventured back into walks.  I am not a big cold weather girl, so waking up and going for a run in the cold weather is not for me.  But the warmer weather and not wearing 500 layers means that I maybe starting back my morning runs instead of…

  • Surprise Maryland Trip for Dad’s 60th/Mother’s Day

Hello!  I am writing from my wonderful kitchen table this morning.  And boy, it has been a whirlwind of the past couple of days.  My dad turned 60 on Thursday–so we decided to make an impromptu trip to Maryland to celebrate his birthday.  Mimi invited us to a cookout in my dad’s honor a few weeks back and since it was a free weekend for us, we decided to go!  I told the majority of my family about the surprise trip–and everyone kept quiet until we arrived and dad greeted us at the door.  I am so happy that we got to surprise/celebrate with my dad at his party! The…

  • Recap on Swamp Rabbit 5k with Girls on the Run and Adults Playing Hooky

Yesterday was the final day of the Girls on the Run Spring 2015 season! Our season ran from February to May with the final 5k run last Friday evening.  Our Greenville girls joined 6 thousand other runners in the Swamp Rabbit 5k run.  Friday night was so much fun and it was amazing to see all of our girls finish the race–with smiles on their faces :).  Most of our girls ran with their parents, friends or other coaches.  It is such an amazing thing that 3rd-5th graders can say that they ran a 5k!  I am extremely proud of each and everyone of our girls and cannot wait until next…

  • Weekend trip to Asheville and Biltmore Estate

Wow this weekend was fun!  I had a great trip to Asheville with Drew’s family.  Asheville is a great town that is only about an hour and half drive from Greenville.  Asheville has boomed in the past few years–with breweries popping up in old industrial buildings and tourism flourishing because of the breweries and unique places to eat.  Asheville has definitely embraced the farm to table cuisine with most restaurants serving local vegetables and meats.  But my favorite thing about Asheville, besides the great food and breath taking views, is that Asheville is a very dog friendly town! On Friday, my mother in law, sister in law and I went…

  • Cooper River Bridge Run 2015 and Family Time

As my memory on my iPhone keeps telling me that my cloud is filled–I have decided to post some pictures from my girls weekend a couple weeks back.  It has been a standing tradition for a few years now to make a girls weekend out of the Cooper River Bridge Run.  We started running the race back when we all first moved to Charleston after college.  I lived in a house with 4 of my friends off of Wentworth/Pitt Street in downtown Charleston.  It was a great transition from college to postgrad life–and really made us all feel like we were just living in a sorority house rather than being…

  • Easter 2015 in Chapin

Happy Easter Monday!  Drew and I enjoyed a long weekend in Chapin.  It is awesome how many companies in Upstate South Carolina get off on Good Friday.  Growing up in Maryland–we certainly did not, but we did get off for many Jewish holidays so I guess it evens out. On Thursday night, we went to a new restaurant, Bar Louie, off of Woodruff Road (Greenville, SC).  I like to go to restaurants on Woodruff Road because there are so many different options and it is a lot closer to us than going downtown (only a 10 minute difference, but always seems easier ha!).  Apparently, Bar Louie is a chain restaurant with a…

  • Weekend Recap with Shrimp and Grits

Good morning! It was a beautiful weekend and great way to enter into Spring.  Quick weekend recap: went to Lazy Goat downtown with friends (didn’t take any pictures, but was amazing!), hung up our new hammock/hammock stand, enjoyed the perfect 75 degree sunny weather on Saturday, 8 mile run, went to our friends’ house for a cookout, went to Cabella’s and throughly enjoyed a lazy Sunday. I have been redecorating/painting our house for the past few months.  When we bought the house most of the rooms were painted in dark, strong colors.  For example, our kitchen, living room, powder room and breakfast nook were all painted a DEEP DARK brown.…
