Sierra Nevada Brewery Tour in Mills River, NC
Happy Monday!
We had a great weekend celebrating Drew’s birthday. I surprised him with a day trip to Mills River, NC to visit the Sierra Nevada brewery. For over a year, we talked about visiting the brewery, but the tours always seem to be booked when we wanted to visit.
Mills River is a short hour and 15 minute drive from Greenville, which made it a perfect day trip. The facility is out of this world–we kept comparing it to a grown-up Willy Wonka factory.
We went on the Brewhouse tour (they have 3 other tours you can do depending on the season). During the Brewhouse tour, we learned about the start up of the company and the entire brewing process. We even got to see the packing process–Drew’s favorite part!
At the end of the tour, we had a testing where everyone got to test 2oz of 8-10 different beers. Sierra Nevada was so sweet and gave me a sparkling fruit drink instead of the beer! They know how to win over pregnant ladies.
Following the tour, Drew and I headed to the amazing restaurant/bar that is at the brewery. The tour ended around 2:00 and the restaurant was still packed with the lunch crowd. Luckily, we grabbed a couple seats at a community table and enjoyed chatting with some other visitors. We enjoyed a couple apps and Drew enjoyed a flight of beer. Our favorite app was hands down the pretzels and beer cheese dip!
We had a great time and we will definitely be back this summer with Drew’s family. The outdoor space looks like a great time for warmer weather (they have a fire pit for the winter time, but it was still a little too chilly for me).
Have a great start of the week 🙂
