Walker’s 4 Month Recap
Walker turned 4 months old this week and while it seems that he has been in our family forever, it is crazy how quickly time passes. Walker changed so much in the past month and his personality is really starting to shine. This month, he rolled from his tummy to back and back to tummy. He is very strong and determined to move if he wants something. He started babbling and loves to smile. Seriously, I cannot get over how genuinely smiley the little guy is! And he loves to put everything in his mouth. At first, I thought he was teething and now I have realized he just loves chewing…

Vacation Recap: Fourth of July at Edisto Island, South Carolina
We just got back from an incredible 9 day vacation on Edisto Island, SC. We had an amazing time hanging out with family and friends and of course, our little boys. While we are definitely more sleep deprived than any other vacation we have ever had, we had a great time and cannot wait to go back soon.We are extremely lucky that Drew’s family has owned a beach house on Edisto for over 50 years. It is such a special place that we all treasure and enjoy reconnecting with family and friends. I started going to Edisto in college where our nights would be filled with going to Dockside and…

Life Lately: Living without Air Conditioning
Life is a little crazy over here! Our downstairs AC stopped working on Friday afternoon, meaning that we spent the entire weekend without AC. The past couple days we have been getting quotes for repairs and are eager to get our new unit next week. Seriously, living without AC with 90 degree days and two babies is no joke. Luckily, we have AC upstairs and a leak we discovered is linked to the AC so we are counting our lucky stars and know it could be a lot worse! We also learned how important it is to get numerous quotes, we would have spent a couple thousand more had we…

Motherhood Lessons: Failing at Sleep Training
Can I just rant for a second? Really…because lets be honest, somedays (like today) all I hear are cries, whining, yelling and “mommy, mommy, mom, mommy.” Basically, my children are constantly letting out their emotions so let me do it for just.one.second. Please don’t get me wrong, my children are a true blessing and my favorite people on this planet…but they are also EXHAUSTING. This season is beautiful and fun and messy and honestly sometimes just downright tiring. Currently, I am running on 3 cups of coffee about to make another pot because my baby refuses to sleep. I have read so so many parenting/sleep training books, and guess what?…

Motherhood Lessons: Becoming a Boy Mom
“Are you going to try for a girl?” is the question that I have been asked more than anything over the course of my second pregnancy with my son. At first, I laughed it off and thought nothing of the comments. However after weeks of hearing the same question, I started to question having another boy myself. In some strange way it felt like I was letting people down when I said I was having another boy. Truthfully, I always loved the idea of having boys. I was a huge tomboy and loved playing sports and being outside when I was little (and still do). I am not a “girly-girl”…

My 2018 Goals/Resolutions
Every New Year comes with new resolutions/goals people make for themselves. Like most, I set out my goals (even though I am a week late) to make my life more prosperous and fulfilled in the coming year. My personal goals this year do not include drinking more water or losing weight (thanks to pregnancy both of those are going to organically happen/not happen), rather they include taking care of myself and family. 2018 Goals: Be more present: I have a tendency to talk on the phone or check Instagram a lot throughout the day. The time that I spend not paying attention or being present is time that I am…

Motherhood Lessons: Weaning from Breastfeeding
Warning: this is an extremely personal post. While I sit here writing this post, I am on the verge of being an emotional basket case! I finally weaned Reid from breastfeeding and tonight marked the first night of not nursing him to sleep. Needless to say, it is extremely bittersweet. It marks the end of a routine of over 15 months and the beginning of Reid not physically needing me (I know that technically he did not need breastmilk/formula after a year, but still). He is growing up and I cannot slow time down no matter how much I would like to. My breastfeeding adventure started with Drew and I…

You Do You: Getting Back Into Running
Our morning started off with tornado and severe weather warnings. So instead of going through my normal routine and taking a barre class, I went for a quick 2 mile run on our treadmill. Admittedly, our treadmill has not been touched since we moved in! It got me thinking about how my routine has drastically changed and how I long to get back to “doing me.” I find myself these days claiming that I was a marathoner in a past life. Since having issues conceiving because of my low weight (associated with my high mileage running), I have put my passion for running on the back burner. I realized that…

Motherhood Lessons: A Day in the Life of Stay at Home Mom
People are often surprised to learn that I am a lawyer turned stay at home mom. The first question after asking what I did before staying at home is always do you plan to go back to work? They are even more surprised when I say that I am not sure, most expecting me to say of course! While I would like to say yes, there is no way to tell what will be best for my family in a few years. Sure I have my doubts (sometimes daily) about living up to my career potential and using my hard earned degree–but when I really take a look inside I…

Weekend Recap: First Haircut
Good morning! Wow the time change totally has us thrown off schedule, but we are going with it 🙂 We started this morning going to barre, then to Trader Joes and back home for a nap (which has turned into an almost 3 hour nap…)! This weekend was a pretty relaxed one. The weather is seriously going crazy–it was in the 70s last week and today it is barely approaching 40! Yesterday, we took advantage of the less than ideal weather and ventured around Lake Allatoona in search for boat storage and got some chores done around the house (hello baby gates!). The big news of the weekend was that…
