Finding the Right Workout
Hi Friends! I have to admit that I am one to follow trends when it comes to working out. However, time and time again, I get disappointed and I relearn the lesson that I have to listen to MY body and its needs. Fitness is an ongoing and ever changing relationship. When I find myself bored with a workout, I need to change it up. I crave endorphins, so I know that as long as my body allows it, I will be working out in some form. I am someone who would still workout, even if I could be super lean and thin without doing a thing (which unfortunately I…

You Do You: Getting Back Into Running
Our morning started off with tornado and severe weather warnings. So instead of going through my normal routine and taking a barre class, I went for a quick 2 mile run on our treadmill. Admittedly, our treadmill has not been touched since we moved in! It got me thinking about how my routine has drastically changed and how I long to get back to “doing me.” I find myself these days claiming that I was a marathoner in a past life. Since having issues conceiving because of my low weight (associated with my high mileage running), I have put my passion for running on the back burner. I realized that…

Running Lately: Atlanta is Hilly
Good morning! After waking up early to say goodbye to my sister and her family, I went on an early morning run with Reid. It was my first early run since moving to Atlanta and it felt amazing! There is something about the crisp morning air that really gets the day off to a great start 🙂 When I moved from Charleston to Greenville, South Carolina, I thought that the change in terrain was drastically different/much more challenging–and again I feel the same way since moving from Greenville to Atlanta. Charleston is extremely flat as it is basically sea level, Greenville is in the foothills so it has gradual hills, and (surprisingly) Atlanta…

5 Month Old and Weekend Recap
My baby boy is officially 5 months old–seriously where is the time going?! He is growing so fast and becoming more of a ‘person’ every day. Things about my 5 month old, Reid: He learned how to bounce in his jumperoo and LOVES it He is a very happy boy, loves to laugh, loves kisses He is a flirt with everyone He has started to notice Scout (our dog) and even pet her the other day–too sweet! He loves the water and going in the pool He doesn’t really like to nap–he takes one in the morning around 10:30 (as long as he is in the car seat and running…

Finding New Running Routes
Today, I am linking up with Sara from Lake Shore Runner for Tried It Tuesday. As I am training for the Richmond Marathon in November, I have come across the need to change up my running routes. I am a creature of habit–once I find a route, I stick with the same route forever. However, with snake sightings on one of my routes (literally I have seen 2–and that is enough to call it quits!) and no shade on my other go-to route I need a change! I downloaded MapMyRun a couple months back to keep in touch with my family members who run. It is such a fun app…

WIAW #1: Taco Tuesday
Happy Hump Day! I am so pumped that the Fourth of July long weekend is quickly approaching. You can bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow afternoon, we are hitting the road down to the beach (please, please no traffic!!). Today, I am linking up with Jenn from Peas and Crayons for What I ate Wednesday. Please no judgment on this post/forewarning, I eat a lot. A few months back, my doctor informed me that I needed to put on some weight–which is harder than it looks especially when you like to run a lot. I had to cut back on my running and increase my eating. Luckily, I am at a…

Getting My Groove Back: First Barre Class
Good morning!! After yesterdays post, I realized that I needed to stop whining, put on my big girl panties and just do it! I find that reading other blogs really motivates me to get out and run/exercise even when I do not feel like it and I thank you for your lovely comments they really helped energize me! This morning, I stepped out of my comfort zone and took a barre class. I have always been intrigued by barre classes, but have been either too intimidated or cheap (or both) to actually take one. This morning was the perfect time to test it out, as I am still not ecstatic…

New Running Clothes and Sun Room Complete
I absolutely love online shopping, because I have a tendency to forget what I purchase and then a package shows up at the door–and it is basically like a mini Christmas/Birthday. What did people do before online shopping?! I remember as a kid looking through LandsEnd/L.L.Bean catalogs with my mom and marking what I wanted–and then she would call the various numbers in to place an order. I’m guessing that people still order things that way, but online purchasing is the way to go in my book! Last week, I talked about the sale that Athleta was having and I took advantage of the extra 20 percent off and bought…

100 Degree Run
Weatherman says that it is going to be another hot one. I have a feeling that this summer is going to be exceptionally HOT. I am not complaining because I love the heat so much more than the cold–but our AC isn’t working properly downstairs making it consistently hot, hot, hot in my household! Yesterday, I had every intention of going for a run in the morning but that run turned into a midday run. Whoopies! Since I got a later start, I decided to go on my shady 5 mile route that I run with Scout (it was too hot to take my furry friend). I was a little…

Top 5 Life Hacks
I totally believe in not “reinventing the wheel.” If there is something that I can do to make things simpler and more cost effective without reducing quality I am 100% down with it. Here is a list of my five most recent “life hacks”: 1. Fake Flowers My husband jokes that I have a “black thumb” rather than a “green thumb” as I have a tendency to kill all the plants or flowers that I plant. We moved to our house over 2 years ago and I have literally spent hundreds of dollars on flowers that all die. I am always optimistic that I can keep flowers alive so I…
