What Happens Going Gluten and Dairy Free for 3 Months
A few months ago, I got my first physical with a primary care doctor in years (I get my annual from my ob/gyn every year). After speaking with my PC, she started talking about my gut health and what I thought was just normal llfe, turned out to be a gut issue. To be TMI, I had stomach issues (TMI: diarrhea multiple times a week, gas, bloat and cramp like pain weekly, if not daily). She advised me to do an elimination diet starting with gluten to see if that would ease my symptoms…admittedly, I was not thrilled and did not want to become one of “those people” who have…

4 BEST Simple Go-To Protein Powder Ball Recipes
I have been making protein balls like crazy the past few weeks. After talking with my doctor about going gluten (and now dairy) free, protein balls or power balls have become my go to convenient snack. They are super easy to make and keep me satisfied for a couple hours! My two boys (6 and 4) love to help me stir the ingredients and roll them into little balls 🙂 I posted about these recipes on Instagram, but if you missed those posts here I am sharing our go to 3 easy protein energy ball recipes. For all of the recipes, I used Isagenix Isalean protein powder for these and…

WIAW #1: Taco Tuesday
Happy Hump Day! I am so pumped that the Fourth of July long weekend is quickly approaching. You can bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow afternoon, we are hitting the road down to the beach (please, please no traffic!!). Today, I am linking up with Jenn from Peas and Crayons for What I ate Wednesday. Please no judgment on this post/forewarning, I eat a lot. A few months back, my doctor informed me that I needed to put on some weight–which is harder than it looks especially when you like to run a lot. I had to cut back on my running and increase my eating. Luckily, I am at a…

Weekend Recap with a side of Homemade Chocolate Chip Pecan Banana Bread
Happy Monday! This weekend was a busy one. Friday night started off with a wonderful night in with my husband. We have been busy/traveling so much that it was really nice to have a night in! I rented 50 Shades of Grey and forced Drew to watch it with me (after whining that this was not a movie that he would EVER pick out). I thought that the movie was okay, obviously the book was better–but isn’t that how movies/books always are?! I will definitely be watching the next couple when they come out. Saturday morning, I painted/put the first coat of paint on our sunroom. Our biggest complaint about…

Homemade Cliff Bars and Homemade Lara Bars
I have been doing a little experimenting in the kitchen. I used to love to bake as it was my stress reliever in undergrad and law school. After the “real world” and for no reason at all, I stopped baking. Now I will cook dinner as needed and will do the occasional baking i.e. strawberry pie, cookies for special occasions, etc. but I have lost my passion for baking. I am not sure that my little experiment in the kitchen will bring back to life my love for baking (as no actual baking was needed) but its a start. As I have mentioned before, Drew is in school and needs…

What is the best protein bar? and 90 degree Run
Wow it has definitely heated up in Greenville. Yesterday, I went for a HOT 6 mile run. I take full responsibility for my bad timing, but a girl can still complain a little ;). I wasn’t able to go for a run until around 2:30 yesterday aka the heat of the day. It was a little sluggish, but overall I had a pretty good run. I wanted to add an additional 2.5, but since I forgot money (to buy water at CVS–I hate running with water bottles) I opted out and just did my normal 6. Following my run, I ventured to Trader Joe’s to pick up some protein bars…

Girls on the Run Coaches Dinner, Strawberry Pie and Charleston Run
Hello from Charleston! Drew and I woke up super early this morning and made our way down to Charleston. We are celebrating my mother-in-law’s birthday in Edisto this weekend and came down early so that Drew could work in Charleston (he travels to Charleston a couple times a month for work). My sister-in-law, Meredith, and I are going down to the beach house later this afternoon and Drew will meet up with us a little bit later. After Drew dropped me off, Meredith and I ventured to pick up some last minute items from Trader Joe’s–which lets be honest I went in needing to get lettuce and walked out with…

Weekend Recap with Shrimp and Grits
Good morning! It was a beautiful weekend and great way to enter into Spring. Quick weekend recap: went to Lazy Goat downtown with friends (didn’t take any pictures, but was amazing!), hung up our new hammock/hammock stand, enjoyed the perfect 75 degree sunny weather on Saturday, 8 mile run, went to our friends’ house for a cookout, went to Cabella’s and throughly enjoyed a lazy Sunday. I have been redecorating/painting our house for the past few months. When we bought the house most of the rooms were painted in dark, strong colors. For example, our kitchen, living room, powder room and breakfast nook were all painted a DEEP DARK brown.…

Must Make Asian Inspired Taco Recipe and Movie Night
Happy first day of Spring! The weatherman swears that it is going to clear up today and become a sunny afternoon (fingers crossed!). I have to share/save a recipe that I made for Taco Tuesday this week. Growing up my family had taco night at least once a week–which is a genius idea because tacos are super easy, fast and inexpensive while being absolutely delicious. I carry on this tradition to my little family and dubbed it Taco Tuesday. While Drew prefers Asian cuisine, he puts up with my Mexi taste buds and is alright eating Mexican at least once if not twice a week. So when I discovered an…

Cottage Cheese Oatmeal Pancakes (with Banana)
Good morning! Recently, I have become obsessed with pancakes! It all started when I gave up bread (aka semi gluten free) for lent– and I became a carb craving girl! So in order to tame my cravings I have done a lot of experimenting with alternatives for bread based pancakes–subsequently, welcome oatmeal cottage cheese pancakes. I found a ton of different recipes online using cottage cheese and oatmeal in place of traditional flour. They all had similar ingredients, but took a different approach–so I experimented with a few of them and created a mixed up version of what I would like to call a hybrid banana bread pancake. This recipe combines…
